Dangers Of Skunks & Disease
Alpha Wildlife wants you to be aware of skunk diseases should you attempt to solve the skunk problem on your property yourself, without the proper knowledge of their habits, and without the proper equipment.
Skunks are known as carriers of rabies and parasites. At one time, skunks were considered the number one carrier of rabies in many states. They are carriers of leptospirosis (bacterial infections found in stagnant water), distemper (virus found in domestic pets), parasites, Lyme disease, canine hepatitis, ticks, lice, fleas, mites and Anaplasmosis.
Canine Hepatitis & Intestinal Roundworms
Skunks are also carriers of canine hepatitis, ticks, lice, mites, intestinal roundworms and fleas. Any of these can be transferred to your pets from skunks on your property and can cause harm and/or death.
